preventive measures should be studied and there should be sexual education and lectures given especially the minors. The richer countries should also help to solve this problem and save the Caribbean Women
and Children from getting sick. They are the hope of their country

Though sexual education and STD awareness have definitely increased in Latin America, sometimes the messages are fragmented and conflicting, which sometimes result in the perpetuation of urban myths (in the DR, for example, the idea that men should use condoms with their lovers, but not with their spouses, or that using a condom means you have an STD). But I think that access to contraceptives continues to be one of the major problems, particularly in the Caribbean; price and stigma continue to be major barriers for the poorest and most vulnerable populations.

With regard to the Latin America and Caribbean region, I strongly agree that we are at the tipping point where prevention efforts and access to treatment care and support are concerned. Strategies to ensure the realization of the goals of Universal Access to all of these by 2010 are critical, particularly as they relate to PREVENTION.
