We, at Conversations for a Better World, are happy to announce the competition “Let’s talk about the Pill”. This is a call for your best and brightest ideas.
5… 4…3… 2…. 1…. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to think, click and vote. Conversations is all about progress and forward-looking ideas for a better world. As we mark the 50th anniversary of the approval of the birth control pill in the US, it’s time for straight talk and stellar solutions. Here’s the thing: more than 200 million women in developing countries do not have access to modern contraceptives, such as the Pill.
How can we ensure that every woman who chooses can access the Pill or other appropriate contraceptive options?
We want to hear from you
That’s where you come in: we want to know what you have to say about it. Join the competition, and share your idea. Come back and vote for your favorite ideas until 4 June, 2010. The format is up to you. You can write a quick blog-post explaining your idea, share a video, submit a song, a poem, or a quick sentence. The Conversations community – well, that’s you! – decides the winner and best idea. It’s all about finding solutions for women around the world struggling to get access to contraceptives.
It wouldn’t be the Internet without some link love. So remember to share a link to your idea with friends, network and co-workers with an invitation to vote.
Conversations is covering Women Deliver 2010, a global conference being held in Washington DC from June 7-9, focusing on delivering solutions for girls and women and making maternal and reproductive health a priority. The conference will coincide with our discussions on women and contraceptives.
What can I win?
The blog-post that receives the most votes will be featured at the Women Deliver Conference before an audience of experts, activists, and policy-makers at the Conference, giving the winner a high amount of visibility. Not only that, but at Conversations, we will feature the winning blog-post on the front page for an entire month and use various channels to promote your blog-post, including Twitter and Facebook. Conversations will also give the winner an electronic badge to put on their own blog, indicating the winning status of their blog-post. Your blog-post will also be featured at the front page of www.womendeliver.org, the official site.
Tell us how you want to better your community. We’re looking for people, organizations, researchers, activists and businesses with ideas for a better world.
How do I participate?
Participating in the competition is easy. Just go to www.conversationsforabetterworld.com and submit a blog-post. We will keep updating this page with new ideas. We’ll have an option next to each blog-post for you to click on indicating your vote.
So please come back, so you can see the list of ideas.
You have until June 4, so let’s get started!

I believe every woman should have an understanding of how her body works so that she will know each day when she is fertile and when she is infertile. When a woman understands her own patterns of fertility then she can truly be in a position to choose how she wants to manage her reproductive life. The Billings Ovulation Method empowers women to take effective control of their fertility so that they are no longer dependent on drugs or devices. The Billings Ovulation Method is very inexpensive, can be used through all stages of a woman's reproductive life including breastfeeding and irregular cycles and can alert a woman to early diagnosis of pathology or ovarian disfunction. More and more use is being made of the Billings Ovulation Method in assisting sub-fertile couples achieve a pregnancy. There are accredited teachers of the Billings Ovulation Method all over the world where women can access this empowering information.
