Violence against women, particularly in the third world country, is at an epidemic stage. There are some countries, including, Pakistan, where it is still thought to be lawful to beat one’s wife. Some people even think it is their privilege to beat, abuse and torture [women].

This sort of mental illness needs great attention. What needs to be done is to try to make 180 degree shift in the thinking and mentality of the individual people and of the society. In this regard media shall be useful, although it is a pity that print and electronic media is not utilized to this end. We at WomenShade Pakistan, are trying to utilize electronic and print media to curb the violence against women.
